小心身體,小心心

感覺一下你的身體,有沒有什麼地方覺得緊?

試著感受你的心是如何在身上製造這些緊的地方的。這就是禪修的啟示:沒有心,就沒有活生生的身體,沒有心,身體不會有緊張或舒服的感覺。

要是我們製造了現實世界,那麼我們肯定也製造了我們的身體。如果我們不能了解心與身體是分不開的,那麼我們如何去了解樹、天空、空氣、山、河流、朋友與敵人等都是我們製造的?我們如何得到解脫?

佛經常強調對身體正念的重要性(白話)

僧侶們,如果你們培養一件事情,然後拋棄無知,那麼最高的智慧會升起,放棄對自己的迷惑,消除潛在的傾向,束縛便打開了。這件事情是指什麼呢?就是對身體的正念。

    I fought a battle with myself for years. Although it wasn’t a physical condition, it took a lot of time and hard work to overcome it. I recognized that only I can change my thinking and my mind. By changing my state of mind, I was able to overcome my challenging obstacle.
    I would love to hear others stories!

      Thank you for sharing! It sure can take a long time. It is not easy to make that connection between the body and the mind especially when we are taught to understand the body purely as a physical reality. Of course, it is still very important to see his or her doctor first whenever there is concern of one’s physical health.

      I had also been working with a physical discomfort for several years – until I finally see what kind of shift in my thinking and emotion come with the physical symptom and that helped me connect the dots. Even though I am now better at managing the symptom by changing my state of mind – by paying attention to my own thoughts and physical being – it seems that a deeper layer is emerging as well. It is an on-going work but I think self-healing starts with self-awareness, and one path to self-awareness is mindfulness toward the body.
